XP Memory Windows  says it is less than 2 gig (Home Premium Pentium 4)
When booting xp home premium it indicates that the hard disk is formatted in dos by the way I remember how DOS used to boot. Its the memory statement that gives it away in the boot up.I ran all the rewrite to boot sector tools from the xp premium home install disk toolsI changed the memory to eliminate thatI had a look to see it it says it is formatted in nt format that checks outI had a look for strange files found one with a funny name and deleted it.had a look for virus they are using AVG Free I don't I use Norton.Ran Spybot tooSooo what is going on. They have a pentium 4 this is a freebie from me to my kids trying to track down why the complaint the computer is running slow.tried the Microsoft diagnostic Fix ItWindows xp looks like dos format but says it is formatted in nt format the clue is the memory is not being shown as 2 gig what is going on ? Regards if you have solved this I dont need any sympathy messages. Roy Thwaites1 person needs an answerI do too

XP doesnt have a "home premium",its either xp pro,or xp home edition.Either way,xp uses the NTFS file system,or FAT32,NTFS is default.....To test memory, download & run the microsoft memory tester. http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp Download & install to a MS-DOS formatted floppy disk, boot the pc to the floppy, also, a cd version exist also...
